Lien decided to place an advertisement on the Internet to seek someone to share a room, providing information about the room, leaving a telephone number for contact, and then waited.

Even students who are living in groups of two or three want to seek someone else to share rooms with as they want to save money.

Vo Van Thanh, a student of the Trade University, previously shared a room in Ha Dong City in the former Ha Tay province with Chung, a classmate. However, as the prices have been skyrocketing, Thanh and Chung decided to seek another boy to live with. They have found Hoang Anh, a student of the Economic School, who was also trying to seek rooms to rent.

Chung and Thanh related that they had to contact other students with a completely new mobile phone number until they found Hoang Anh, and then they gave the phone number away.

There are a lot of advertisements seeking friends to share rooms with on the Internet. Several hundred ads like that can be found in the personal column of every website. Every piece, on average, has 70-80 hits.

The demand for rooms to rent keeps increasing day-by-day, especially when the university entrance exams are coming, and students from provinces have been flocking into Hanoi to attend preparation classes for exams.

Students have been whispering in each others’ ears that one should take caution when deciding to live with someone. Mai related that she once received a call from a person, who called herself Mai, a student of the Tourism Vocational School. Mai agreed to allow the girl to share the room. However, after one night the girl stayed in the room, Mai’s money and jewelry was gone, together with the girl.
