Justice ministry sets up IT division

VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Justice set up an Information Technology Department on Tuesday to advise it on and help manage IT-related issues.

The department would be responsible for deploying IT applications in agencies under the ministry and providing IT services, the ministry said.

It will also work with the Civil Verdict Enforcement Department to develop applications for use by provincial enforcement divisions and monitor compliance of IT-related regulations.

On the same day, the department signed a memorandum of co-operation with the Viet Nam Military Telecom Corporation (Viettel) to develop as well as implement IT applications.

Deputy general director of Viettel Tong Viet Trung said his company would help meet the judicial system's demand for IT applications to raise awareness and observance of the law among individuals and organisations.

It would provide the ministry with communication and IT services like broadband internet, fixed and mobile telephone, online conferencing, and video and audio conferencing, and help it maintain servers and transmission lines and provide training support, he said.

The head of the new department, Nguyen Tien Dung, said it would develop online IT applications to serve citizens and organisations.
